Newcastle Jets attacker Jeremy Brockie is set to be sidelined for six weeks after injuring his foot in a training mishap.
The 23-year old New Zealand international broke a bone in his foot at training yesterday and will now miss about a month-and-a-half of action in what is a major blow for the club.
Brockie had begun the season at his new club in positive fashion before missing a couple of matches because of injury but was able to start both international games for the All Whites earlier this month.
Brockie admitted it was an extremely unfortunate incident and was already setting his sights on a return.
"It was just one of those freak accidents that you hear about but unfortunately it happened to me," he told tribalfootball.com.
"After the initial disappointment I am just looking to get back to playing but I know I will need to put in the work during rehab."
The injury will force Brockie to miss the exhibition match against the LA Galaxy and David Beckham at EnergyAustralia Stadium on November 27.
