Newcastle Jets celebrate attracting Dane Hakansson

Jets officials and the 26-year old have agreed on a two-year term that will see him become a Jets player immediately.

Hakansson has played in the Dutch Eredivisie with SC Heerenveen, RBC Rosendaal and ADO Den Haag, in Sweden with Djurgardens IF and in his home nation of Denmark with clubs BK Frem, Viborg FF and most recently Lyngby BK.

In 1997, Hakansson won the Danish U17 Player of the Year Award and has been capped at U19, 20 & 21 levels.

The Jets are extremely happy with their latest addition to their squad and CEO John Tsatsimas spoke highly of the signing.

"It is certainly wonderful to have a player with Jesper's background and record joining our club.

"We believe that Jesper will fit in nicely with the squad that we have here, and will easily find his feet in Australia as he settles in for the next two seasons in the Hyundai A=League.

"Head coach Gary van Egmond has undertaken and extensive selection process since the team were crowned Champions last February, and has thus far formed a formidable squad for the title defence."
