Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has positive words for the club's new record signing.

Miguel Almiron has arrived from Atlanta United in MLS, with the Paraguayan hoping that he will have a successful second half of the season at Tyneside.

The 24-year-old could play against Wolves to make his debut.

And Shearer is excited to see the attacking midfielder, just like other Newcastle fans.

"It has been a long time coming," Shearer told Sky Sports News.

"It is what the fans have wanted and what the club has needed.

"He is at a brilliant football club and if he can do well there he will be absolutely loved.

"Hopefully it won't take him long before he can get in the team and start showing the fans what he can do."
