Newcastle hold fresh talks over West Brom striker Rondon

Newcastle United are looking into the possibility of signing Salomon Rondon in the coming weeks.

The Magpies were linked to Alassane Plea from Nice, but it appears they cannot match the transfer fee being demanded by the French outfit, which is in excess of £27 million.

If they are not able to sign Plea, Newcastle will turn to Rondon from West Bromwich Albion, per the Chronicle Live.

Rondon has a release clause in his contract that could see clubs sign him for £16.5 million in this transfer window.

While the club's manager Rafa Benitez wants Plea, he would be prepared to settle for Rondon should the club be unable to complete that transfer.
