Newcastle hero Shearer: Man City boss Guardiola did nothing wrong by Hart

Alan Shearer insists Joe Hart has not been treated poorly by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper joined Italian club Torino on loan on deadline day after falling behind Willy Caballero and new City signing Claudio Bravo in the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

Plenty have cried foul of Guardiola for discarding such a loyal and important player but Shearer says it is part and parcel of today's game when results are constantly on the line.

In his analysis of England's World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia on Sunday, Shearer wrote in The Sun: "Last night he will have been unhappy about one scuffed kick in the first half as his distribution skills have been brought into question by boss Pep Guardiola, who no longer wants him at Manchester City.

"I still believe he is the best English keeper we have and I admire him for not sulking and making a very brave decision to go to Torino in Serie A on a season-long loan move.

"People say he has been treated badly by Guardiola but these things happen.

"Because he is a club legend and part of two title-winning sides, should he not adhere to the same rules as everyone else?

"Sounds harsh but if you don't like it, you shouldn't be in football."
