Newcastle haven't offered extension to Matty Longstaff

Newcastle United have still not offered a contract extension to Matty Longstaff.

The Magpies had made an initial offer to the player around Boxing Day, but it was rejected, per the Chronicle.

The younger Longstaff is out of contract in the summer, and is wanted by several clubs around Europe, including a Serie A team.

But the paper reports that no new offer has come from Newcastle, which means that his chances of staying at the club are minimal at the moment.

Manager Steve Bruce is desperate for Matty to stay, as he knows the club must hold onto its best young players if it wants to progress in the coming years.

Longstaff is represented by Beswick Sports, as is his older brother Sean who also plays for Newcastle, but discussions have taken place about finding new representation.
