Newcastle have Faye bid accepted

Newcastle United have had a £2 million bid accepted by Bolton Wanderers for midfielder Abdoulaye Faye.

The Senegalese giant has impressed since moving to Bolton from Lens in 2005 and will join former boss Sam Allardyce at St James' Park before the transfer window closes, according to the Daily Mirror.

Faye missed Bolton's victory over Reading on Saturday after being dropped at the last minute.

The 29 year-old, who has one year left on his contract at the Reebok Stadium, will reputedly earn £40,000 per week on Tyneside.

Allardyce has already admitted he may be forced into strengthening his defence again before Friday's deadline to cope with an injury crisis.

He lost both Peter Ramage and Steven Carr to injury during Sunday's 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough.
