Rose joined Newcastle on-loan in January from Tottenham.
He has played with a host of big-name forwards for club and country in recent years, but the Magpies' loanee has been very impressed by what he has seen from Saint-Maximin.
"I first watched him when I think you played Man City at home and he was up against Kyle Walker," he told NUFC TV. "Kyle, for me, is the best in the league and Maxi gave him a bit of a difficult time. That's when I first noticed him.
"Now I get to train with him and play with him week in, week out. I can see why fans love him. In a 1 v 1 situation, he's probably one of the best I've come across.
"To be able to play behind him and know you can give him the ball and he can get out of any situation and now he's adding goals to his game, I'm over the moon for him. It is a privilege to play with him."
