Newcastle forward De Jong eyes future MLS move

Newcastle United's Siem De Jong has indicated his ambition of wanting to make a future move to Major League Soccer.

De Jong is yet to make an impact with Newcastle since his move to the club from Ajax at the start of last season but the attacker already seems to be planning for life after his expected lengthy spell with the Magpies.

The Dutchman stated that after he is done playing for Newcastle, he would like to see out the final years of his career in North America's MLS.

"I can certainly stay here for five years, Tim Krul has been here for ten years – but it does depend on many factors," De Jong told the Chronicle.

"I am adventurous even though I stayed with Ajax for seven years. I would certainly look at the end of my career towards New York or Los Angeles. I've been a few times to the US. I travel a lot anyway."
