Premier League clubs are on red alert after it was confirmed Tranquillo Barnetta is leaving Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer chief Wolfgang Holzhauser has announced Barnetta rejected their new contract offer and will "now leave on June 30".

The Switzerland international has been a long-term target for Newcastle United, while he has also been linked with Aston Villa and Everton.

The 27 year-old's Bosman status will make him hot property across Europe.
