The Evening Chronicle says Lasogga, with a move to Hamburg breaking down, has been ordered back to training by Hertha Berlin.
Hamburg are frustrated that Hertha are holding out for £9.5m for the player.
Newcastle will keep tabs on the situation and should Hamburg's financial issues continue and Lasogga makes it clear he wants to quit Hertha, this transfer could play into the hands of the Magpies.
