Newcastle defender Florian Lejeune's season is over after suffering a knee injury in defeat to Crystal Palace.
The former Eibar centre-back left St James' Park on crutches and with his left leg in a brace following the 1-0 defeat against the Eagles. His leg appeared to buckle under no pressure from an opponent.
Toon boss Rafa Benitez said, “It seems bad.
“It's the other knee, but it seems bad, so we have to wait and see what the doctor says tomorrow. I was talking with him.
“Obviously, he was disappointed and asking the doctor.
“We need to assess him tomorrow, but it seems bad.
“He said he felt a click in his knee, so that is bad news normally."
