With Fulham starting to fade at the bottom end of the table, and the Cottagers having to nervously watch on as they face a week of waiting to face Chelsea, Newcastle could even place what some would see as an unassailable 11-point advantage between the sides with five games left.
Clark, speaking to Talksport, said: "It's in our hands now, and the two back to back wins really took the pressure off.
"But it is still there in some ways.
"We still know it's there because it has been a crazy season and we have seen teams winning.
"You can never expect a team to win a game easily. Every game in this league is tough."
For weeks, Newcastle fans watched on as they prayed for Brighton and Fulham to slip up but finally in April, United have delivered some solid performances and points.
Clark said: "We just need to focus on ourselves, we just need to make sure we put the points on the board ourselves.
"We focus on each game as it comes up and that's all we can do.
"So we are definitely going to take the confidence but we know it is a tough one against a great side.
"It's up to us now to add points to what we have so far."
