Newcastle dealt blow as Muto wins Japan call-up

Newcastle United are disappointed in the news that Yoshinori Muto will be going to the Asia Cup.

He has been called up to the Japan squad for the tournament that will take place in January.

He was not in the original squad, but has been added in by boss Hajime Moriyasu.

It will result in Muto missing around four Premier League games, along with some FA Cup clashes.

While he has only been on the bench in recent games, it still means that Newcastle will be short on options in attacking positions.

And it could lead to manager Rafa Benitez attempting to find a short term backup in the January window.

Another who will be absent is Ki Sung Yueng, who will be with South Korea for the Asia Cup.
