Newcastle United could tie up a link with Botafogo in the coming months.

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund that will take an 80% stake in Newcastle United under the proposed takeover going through Premier League checks are also looking to acquire Brazilian top flight club Botafogo.

Botafogo director Ricardo Rotenberg told Canal: “We talked to people interested in buying Newcastle and Bordeaux.

"There was a group that was very interested.

“If we can get back to normal in July, I think there is a very good chance that in December (we will be taken over)."
