Newcastle United are close to signing Kilmarnock prospect Charlie McArthur.

The teen is expected to leave Killie and be initially registered with Newcastle's academy.

Chronicle Live reports McArthur and his camp were due to discuss personal terms with Newcastle last Thursday after a six-figure fee was agreed between the two clubs.

No issues were anticipated and the centre-back now looks set to link up with the under-23s next month.

The defender boasts four senior appearances with Killie and captained Scotland at the U17 Euros.
