Newcastle United chief Dennis Wise is eager to snap up Bournemouth prospect Sam Vokes.

The Evening Chronicle says Wise is keen on Bournemouth's young Welsh Under-21 striker and would have already done a deal had not the south coast club gone into administration.

Now Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is hoping to step in and snatch Vokes from under the noses of United.
