Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley doesn't expect a busy summer market.
Charnley says they're likely to only sign a handful of players.
He told the Mirror: “Our view going forward is we wouldn't see the volume (of signings) repeated.
“We would look to spend our budget on a smaller number of high quality players, rather than dilute the money over so many. We'd then look to supplement this with loans etc.
“We want players that can make a difference and improve the team.
“We're in a healthy financial position now. Last year was a fantastic finish for the club in terms of finishing tenth.
“Everyone connected with the club deserves a huge amount of credit for that.
“There needs to be a huge amount of credit that goes to the players. Often the players get talked down in terms of having a lack of quality in terms of repeatedly being referred to as a Championship team.
“I think that is grossly unfair. They did a fantastic job last year and I think they've done a fantastic job again this year."
