Newcastle boss won't let Norwich, Middlesbrough target Ameobi leave

Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce won't consider allowing Shola Ameobi to move to Norwich City on-loan.

Ex-Toon boss Glenn Roeder is desperate for new faces in his relegation fight at Carrow Road and he has approached his former club for Ameobi in a loan deal.

But when his assistant Lee Clark got in touch with St James's Park he was told there was nothing doing, says the Evening Chronicle.

Gareth Southgate tried to take the gangling striker to Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window and he will likely be back again in January.

But with Oba Martins away on African Nations Cup duty at the turn of the year, Allardyce wants to hang on to Ameobi - at least for the time being.
