Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says they'll be going for their Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Brentford.

Bruce was speaking after their battling 1-1 home draw with Fulham.

On Tuesday's Cup quarter-final against Brentford, Bruce said: "We all look forward to that, it's been a long, long time [since the club has made a semi-final].

"We'll have to play better than we did tonight - but what an opportunity."

He also said, "There's no doubt we've had a difficult period and I don't want to make that an excuse but we're having to make changes because of it. They're over their illness but its the state it's left them in. It's a bit of a concern but hopefully it leaves the players as quickly as it came. But it is difficult at the minute."
