Newcastle United boss Alan Shearer is standing by skipper Michael Owen.
The striker drew another blank against Portsmouth on Monday, but Shearer says: "Everyone's entitled to their opinion about Michael but we have got to continue to create chances for him.
"He had one on Monday that he would expect to put away but, if we continue to create, one of them will go in."
