Newcastle boss Pardew says NZ tour no jolly

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says they'll take seriously their tour of New Zealand.

The Toon squad touched down yesterday.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "It's something new for us.

"I know for our fans it is a very, very difficult place to go. But they me we have some good support down there.

"So it is good to try to spread our name a little bit.

"It will be a great experience for us. I think this season we have to get it spot on. We have to get it right. There's some good funding and good facilities.

"The weather is going to be perfect.

"I am hoping that turns out to be a real success for us."
