Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is happy for Adam Armstrong to continue his education at Coventry City.
The 18-year-old has scored 12 goals in just 14 League One games for the Sky Blues and has been impressing in English football's third tier.
McClaren told the Evening Chronicle: “(When I was at Middlesbrough it was) important where all the players went. Were they playing? Good football? Right team? Good club?
“And we're looking at that (at Newcastle) as well.
“Armstrong's a perfect example. I talked to Tony Mowbray and he said: 'Well he does this and we're teaching him to do that and improve this.'
“So I said: 'Perfect. Perfect. Carry on.'
“And that's good. Hopefully he comes back and we don't need to do that. He comes back, he's played and we don't need to teach him those things."
