Newcastle boss Hughton fears tough summer market

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton fears he faces a tough summer market for their Premiership return.

Hughton has hinted that he believes in his promotion squad and says what they can achieve next season should not be "under-estimated."

Newcastle face Ipswich at St James's Park on Saturday and they will be presented with the Championship winners trophy in front of a division record 52,000 sell-out crowd.

Hughton said: "We are in more difficult times financially - most clubs are aware of that. We are no different. We have to be mindful to get the right value for anyone coming in. The outlook now is different now to what it used to be.

"This squad have earned the right to be in the Premier League. We are back on the basis of our performances this season.

"It would have been difficult for this club if we had not gone up at the first attempt.

"There are a group of team who are fixtures in the Premier League. Then there are teams like Birmingham who came up and have done very well and Wolves who have come into their own lately.

"You can't under-estimate what we already have on the playing staff here. We have men with a great deal of experience in that league."
