Newcastle boss Howe talks signing Neymar and promoting Miley

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has ducked questions about a summer move for PSG star Neymar.

The Brazil captain is being linked with a move away from Paris this summer after being targeted by PSG ultras in recent days.

Newcastle have been mentioned as a destination and Howe said this morning: "I'm not sure who we have been linked with. The transfer window is secondary at the moment. We are fighting for points in games and that consumes you so much.

"Until we know where we stand in terms of next year it is difficult to predict. The games dictate what happens next year.

"The transfer business is hugely important and I don't underestimate it. There is work going into it, but you just have to get your priorities right at this stage in the season."

Howe was also asked about the promotion of 17 year-old prospect Lewis Miley.

He said: "I've said many times I believe in that so much. It's hugely important now.

"I'm in a difficult position because I can only promote players through the academy that I feel are good enough to play in the Premier League. That's a difficult journey to go on at any football club.

"Lewis has an amazing chance to do that. He's got all the attributes he needs. I'd love there to be a few more, it would save us a fortune in the transfer market."
