Newcastle boss Howe hopeful of Isak making Liverpool trip

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has hopes of Alexander Isak making tomorrow's clash with Liverpool.

Isak is still waiting on a work permit after signing from Real Sociedad last week.

Howe said, "I still don't know. I desperately hope so - it'd be great to see him involved. We're in the hands of other people so we hope it gets done before the game. The cut off is 75 minutes before kick-off so it could go down to the wire.

"We've had minimal training with him between games but what he has done he's done very well. He's looked bright, keen and shown us little flashes because the sessions have been quite light. We're certainly excited by him."

On Bruno Guimaraes' fitness, he also stated: "He's doing well. I don't know about this game but hopefully not far after if he doesn't make it. He's very positive, in good spirits and he's desperate to get back. He's a big player for us so we need to get him back as quickly as possible."

Howe continued: "I do think we're in a stronger place than when we played at Anfield last year. The players are playing in a way they have confidence in. We'll be tested but I see no reason why we can't go there, give a good account of ourselves & play with no fear."
