Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is eager to keep hold of Matt Ritchie.
The veteran Scotland midfielder is coming off contract this month.
However, the Portsmouth News reports Howe is eager for Ritchie to stay on next season.
The Toon manager is keen to keep hold of Ritchie with the need to deepen his squad in preparation for their Champions League campaign.
