Newcastle boss Howe admits Oxford target Longstaff could leave

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe admits Matty Longstaff could be on the move.

The 21-year-old midfielder spent the first half of the season on loan with Aberdeen and has now been linked with a move to League One Oxford.

"It all depends on incomings," Howe said.

"We'll make the right decisions on that closer to the window shutting when we know where we are. We have to get that balance right, especially with the younger players, but the majority of the squad will stay intact.

"We will see with Matty. We have had limited time to assess him, first and foremost, he is like his brother, a great lad, very enthusiastic and passionate about the club. I am very impressed by him, in terms of his career, we will have to make decisions with him and see what the future holds."
