After their 0-0 draw with FA Cup opponents Oxford, Bruce admitted his team could not get any worse than they were at St James' Park.
When asked about the takeover - after reports of a group from Saudi Arabia holding talks with Mike Ashley- Bruce said: “I think I've got enough worries of my own on the football side to let those stories circulate."
But in terms of adding to the signings of Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro, Bruce added: “We're still trying, we're still trying.
“It was a shame that the other boy couldn't get done in time (for the FA Cup), but he'll give us another bit of quality in forward areas.
“We'll see, we'll see what we've got.
“A couple of plates spinning."
