Newcastle boss Bruce rejects press questions ahead of Leeds clash

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has refused to take questions from press reporters today.

Newcastle host Leeds on Tuesday evening having scored one goal in 13 hours, but Bruce remains convinced he is the right man for the job.

"There is no disputing we're on a difficult run," he told Sky Sports. "The quicker we get a result the better. We're not alone, it's a difficult league. All you can do is ignore the noise and focus on the match.

"I've been in it a long time. I've been in this situation before. You draw on your experience. I'm still convinced, yes (I am the right man).

"When you manage in the Premier League, this word 'pressure' is often used. You come under the pump very quickly. You have to handle it with a bit of respect and dignity. I have longevity because of that.

"I have the ability to get stuck into it. I will never shy away from a challenge, that's for sure."
