Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce was happy with the presence of owner Mike Ashley for their FA Cup replay win over Oxford United.

And he also revealed son Alex was in the stands for the triumph.

Bruce was asked if he was nodding at Ashley at the end: "No, no, no, no, no. It was my lad, I think he was still here and that's who I was looking for. I'm sure (Mike Ashley) will go home delighted. It's the first time in his era we've got past the fourth round, which I'm sure he'll be delighted about.

On the winter break, he added: "We need the break. We've struggled of late. I'm playing two wide players through the middle. We've struggled in terms of injuries. They deserve the break."
