Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce insists he can find positives in defeat to Aston Villa.
Villa won 2-0 thanks to goals from Bertrand Traore and Ollie Watkins, but Bruce was upbeat after being able to get wingers Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin on the pitch.
Bruce said, "We've gifted them a goal and after that it was difficult. There were large parts I was pleased about, certainly with the introduction of Saint-Maximin and Ryan (Fraser) in particular. They will give us something up the top of the pitch and we'll get one or two of our central defenders back. I've seen enough to be encouraged.
"All season I've never been able to play Ryan and Allan. I've never had the opportunity because they've never been fit. It was a way of getting them both on the pitch and giving us something in the wide area - the attacking area - to try and score a goal.
"It's always the difficult part of the Premier League. We have found it extremely difficult to score but I was encouraged seeing those two come on the pitch."
