Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce insists re-signing Rangers captain James Tavernier isn't on the agenda.

Bruce is adamant the fullback isn't in his plans.

Asked about Tavernier, he told the Evening Chronicle: "I really don't know where that came from and I hate it when people talk abut my players so I'm not going to comment on anybody else's."

With talks still ongoing for Nice winger, Allan Saint-Maximin, Bruce said: "I'm never going to speak about any player until the deal is done so I really can't comment on that."
