Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce admits they're in the relegation battle after their draw at Burnley.

Bruce was happy, however, with the clean sheet.

Reflecting on the game against a Burnley side now unbeaten in six, Bruce said: "I was pleased with some aspects of it.

"The clean sheet - when you change shape you always worry the defence will be affected. We've had 20 chances, which is far more than before.

"The number of blocks from Burnley tells you a lot.

"Bits of it I was pleased with.

"Room for improvement of course but I thought we were more of a threat."

He added: "There are still eight or 10 teams in there and until you get to that magical number and you are in the bottom half of the division you know how hard it is to win a game.

"We'll take a point, it wasn't pretty at times but we were a lot better going forward."
