Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has admitted interest in Tottenham fullback Danny Rose.

Bruce says he would like to sign Rose in the January transfer window - but the deal is still very much up in the air.

When asked about Rose, Bruce said today: “"It would be wrong for me to sit and talk about other people's players.

“He's a quality player and a class act the kid. Whether it's possible, who knows?"

Newcastle are currently assessing what else is available at left-back, reports the Evening Chronicle.

United are likely to take injured Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett out of the squad but nothing has been finalised at this stage in terms of squad numbers.
