Newcastle boss Bruce admits he wants to buy Spurs fullback Rose

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce admits he wants to make Danny Rose's loan move from Tottenham Hotspur into a permanent deal.

The Newcastle United boss was delighted to secure the England man's services back in January and will recommend his board step up and push a full-time offer in front of the ex-Leeds United defender.

By the time the 2020/21 campaign gets under way the left-back will have less than 12 months left to run on his contract in the capital.

Bruce told the Evening Chronicle: "He is an established quality player.

"We managed to get him through the door and he will be great for the next three months. And hopefully longer after that."

Bruce knows how important Rose could be.

He said: "He is a great thinker to have in the dressing room.

"When he walked through the door gave everybody a lift.

"That is what a really good player does."
