Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez admits the club's "project" has shifted it's aims this season.

Officially Benitez ­insists he will see what happens in January ­before considering any new deal. But it is ­unlikely significant funds will be made ­available and ­recruitment is ­difficult mid-season.

He said: “My view was very clear at the ­beginning when I ­decided to stay – ­potential, project, to compete in the top 10.

“That's not the case now, so then we have to review things. It's obvious to ­everyone we have to do things in another way.

“But at the same time it's very clear for me that we have to concentrate to get results and to stay in the Premier League."
