Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez says Liverpool fans can have an influence on tonight's Champions League final.

The Reds face Tottenham in the Champions League final on Saturday night at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid. Liverpool haven't won the competition since Benitez masterminded the 'Miracle of Istanbul' in 2005.

"They are fantastic. When they are supporting the team, you can feel the atmosphere at Anfield," Benitez told the Liverpool Echo.

"Here with the bigger stadium, I think it will be similar. I remember when we were in Istanbul you could see the queues of fans walking to the stadium and it was massive.

"As a player, you want to deliver for them. When I was the manager, I was thinking all the time about the great atmospheres.

"When people were asking me about the game against Barcelona , I was remembering the game against Real Madrid when we beat them 4-0. The Liverpool fans can re-create these special kind of atmospheres from Anfield here in Madrid.

"You can feel the atmosphere building. It will be a great atmosphere. The only problem is the number of fans without tickets so everyone needs to stay calm."
