Newcastle United and Valencia are set to do battle for the signature of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

The Italian is finally set to leave the club after falling down the pecking order under the club's new manager.

Andrea Pirlo does not see Rugani as a starter, and the player is free to find a new club.

Sportitalia - via Football Italia - claims Newcastle are attempting to gazump Valencia for the player's signature.

It is unclear where Rugani would prefer to play.

But the 26-year-old would be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
