Barcelona face competition to secure Rafael Marquez to a new contract. Mexican sources say MLS representatives have been in touch with Marquez and tabled him a deal for 2010.
The offer has come from New York Red Bull, where they want Marquez to help the club launch a new era at their new stadium.
Marquez also has a deal on the table from Barca, but comes off contract in June.
