New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis is maintaining a positive outlook despite a winless run of five matches.
The MLS expansion franchise have not saluted since the 2-0 home win over New England Revolution on March 15 but Kreis is not getting too downcast as their form does not translate to such a barren run of points.
"With the performances in the last two matches, it shows me that I think we're moving in the right direction," Kreis said after the weekend's 1-0 loss to Portland Timbers.
"I have to believe that over the course of the season, we'll get some luck on our side and this will all level out.
"I think it's really important that we try to recognize that right now the results aren't going our way, but the performances are.
"I have to believe - I've been in the league long enough to know - that if the performances continue like this, that the results are right around the corner."
NYCFC currently sit sixth on the Eastern Conference table with a record of one win, three draws and three losses from seven outings.
