New Wolves skipper Johnson gets Stearman backing

Recently-installed Wolves captain Roger Johnson has received some kind words from new teammate Richard Stearman.

The 28-year old only landed at Molineux this summer from Birmingham City but was immediately appointed skipper by Mick McCarthy, replacing Karl Henry, and Stearman feels it is a good call by the boss.

"Roger is a top quality defender and I've been very impressed with him," Stearman told Express & Star.

"He's very vocal both on and off the pitch.

"He's great to play alongside, that's not taking anything away from the current crop we've got, it's just the way he plays.

"The more of those types we have in the team, can only help us.

"People have seen that he's top quality over the last two seasons, well his whole career."
