New Southampton boss still awaits first win

Nigel Adkins, whilst happy with the football played by his Southampton side in the 0-0 draw at home to Colchester, knows the team have got to start winning. Adkins is still searching for his first victory in charge as Saints went more than 450 minutes without scoring, denied in part by a solid display from U's keeper Mark Cousins.

"Hopefully the supporters can see that my team wants to pass the ball and move it about but it is important we win games," said the Saints boss.

"We have to make sure we give Rickie Lambert and Lee Barnard the right passes to have the chance to score.

"Rickie had a few chances but their keeper made three fantastic saves to deny him.

"But that save by Kelvin Davis from Ashley Vincent could be a big turning point for us this season as we could quite easily have ended up losing this game."
