New England Revolution striker Agudelo 'grateful' for USA re-call

Juan Agudelo admits it was a nice thrill to receive a call-up back to the USA national team.

The New England Revolution forward, 22, has just three international appearances to his name over the past three years and was thankful for winning a re-call to Juergen Klinsman's roster for this Wednesday's friendly with Mexico in San Antonio.

"It was a lot of emotions," said Agudelo, describing the feeling of the selection.

"I'm very grateful, very happy to be back. That's what I tried to do, just focus on performing well, playing every weekend, starting and getting a lot of touches in games and trying to do everything I can to help out the team. I'm happy to be rewarded for the effort."

Agudelo had a tough time of it last year when he was attempting to obtain a UK work permit in order to play for Premier League club Stoke City but is happy that normality has since prevailed.

"Everything feels like it used to be," Agudelo added. "Now I'm just happy to get the ball rolling down the hill.

"I'm going to try and do everything I can to show what I got and show that I should stay in the pool.

"It's a short little call-up, because we return on Thursday, but I'm trying to make the most out of it."
