New England Revolution's Jermaine Jones is set to undergo a minor procedure this week.
The 33-year old defensive midfielder posted on his Instagram account that he will be off for surgery on Tuesday which is believed to be to attend to a sports hernia.
The former Schalke played a full 90 minutes in the USA's 2-0 friendly win over Panama at the StubHub Center in California on Sunday but will now miss the next few weeks of pre-season training as the Revs prepare for the 2015 MLS campaign.
Jones said: "Tomorrow is my surgery so I'll be out for a couple of weeks but I can get back sharp.
"Thanks again for yesterday, it was amazing. Big support in LA, thank you guys."
