New Bordeaux sports chief Hugo Varela has expressed interest in Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Off contract in June, Giroud has emerged as a confirmed target for Olympique Lyon and Olympique Marseille.

And now Varela has revealed Bordeaux are also keen.

He told L'Equipe: "The people who know him have said a lot about him as a player, of course, but also as a person. He has the attributes we are looking for, but he is not the only one.

"No matter who comes, we know that the negotiations will be difficult."
