Jon Uriarte is delighted after winning Friday's Athletic Blbao election.

Uriarte was named new Athletic Club president on Saturday after a successful poll of members.

Casting his vote on Friday, he declared: “This is special day and it has finally arrived. We're very happy. We've had intense weeks of hard work. We were really looking forward to this day and can't wait to see the results.

“I encourage you to vote, Athletic needs you to do so. On election day is when you have to take a step forward.

"I trust that the general public will come to San Mames and vote. We are looking forward to seeing the results."
