New Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has welcomed John Terry as his assistant manager.
At his unveiling as Villa manager, Smith said he will lean on former Chelsea captain Terry and long-term No 2 Richard O'Kelly for advice on team selections and training sessions.
"They're the team, Richard and John," said Smith. "They will be involved in everything. I made that clear to them. So team selection, coaching, planning. I have an open door policy. I will take advice and make the call so when we walk out that door it is our decision.
"John is very important. When I was at Brentford, I worked with Richard and Thomas Frank, so it is only natural we have another on the coaching team.
"John has a wealth of experience, we all know he's played at top of game, but he is also very interested in coaching. It was nice to get out on the grass with them and work with the players."
