Kiwi prodigy Tim Payne is being tipped for big things at Blackburn Rovers.

Payne, 18, travelled to Lancashire for trials in August after a recommendation from club captain Ryan Nelsen.

And the young striker has now signed a 2½-year deal.

Nelsen said: "I got him an opportunity but they are not giving him a contract because of me. He has done really well."
