Negative treatment of Hunt unfair says Leeds Utd's Redfearn

Leeds United Academy boss Neil Redfearn believes Noel Hunt has been treated unfairly since he arrived at the club.

The 31-year old Irish striker joined the Whites from Reading in the summer of 2013 but has failed to score for the West Yorkshire giants in 22 outings.

Hunt, who has not played for Leeds since the Capital One Cup win over Accrington Stanley on August 12, is often criticized by some sections of the Elland Road faithful but former interim boss Redfearn suggests it is unwarranted.

"For whatever reason, he has had a little bit of bad press," Redfearn told the Yorkshire Post after Hunt scored in the development squad's 6-0 Premier League Cup win over Doncaster Rovers on Monday.

"But to be fair, it's unjust because his attitude is good.

"He wants to do well and wants the club to do well. He also genuinely wants other people to do well.

"I was pleased for him on Monday. He had a run-out and needed a game as did Zac Thompson and it's important that these lads get game time as they are part of the football club.

"I thought he applied himself well and looked after some of the younger players as well."
